Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

Image
SONNET 18       Shall I compare thee to a summer's day                      William Shakespeare Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate. Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date. Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimmed; And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed. But thy eternal summer shall not fade Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st; Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st, So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this, and this gives life to thee. ASLEEP IN THE VALLEY BY ARTHUR RIMBAUD

Image
Asleep in The Valley                         Arthur Rimbaud A small green valley where a slow stream flows And leaves long strands of silver on the bright Grass;from the mountaintop stream the sun's Rays; they fill the hollow full of light. A soldier, very young, lies open mouthed, And pillow made of fern beneath his head, Asleep; stretched in the heavy undergrowth, Pale in his warm,green,sun-soaked bed. His feet among the flowers,he sleeps. His smile Is like an Infant's---gentle,without guile. Ah,Nature, keep him warm;he may catch cold. The humming insects don't disturb his rest; He sleeps in sunlight, one hand on his breast; At peace. In his side there are two red holes.                            By BISHNU SARKAR  (+919434524915)

THE POETRY OF EARTH BY JOHN KEATS

Image
The Poetry of Earth                              John Keats The poetry of earth is never dead:   When all the birds are faint with the hot sun,  And hide in cooling trees , a voice will run From hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead; That is the Grasshopper'---he takes the lead In summer luxury ---he has never done With his delights;for when tired out with fun He rests at ease beneath some pleasant weed. The poetry of earth is ceasing never:   On a lone winter evening, when the frost Has wrought a silence, from the stove there shrills The Cricket's song,in warmth increasing ever, And seems to one in drowsiness half lost, The Grasshopper's among some grassy hills.
